Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves

Philippians 2:3

Selfishness probably lives somewhere in each of us. In some of us it lives deeper than others. In others it lives openly and runs freely throughout our work places and homes, making each of our lives less pleasurable. Selfish people have a way of draining the life out of others. They can’t seem to think beyond themselves and use up more time than they ever needed. Leaving others depleted and seeking additional services, resources, and assistance in other places. There are times where each of us should chose ourselves, but that’s typically because we don’t often do so. In many ways, it’s natural for man to place themselves first. Self preservation is one of the most natural instincts ever; but how great do we each feel when we go beyond our natural instincts? Where would our society or lives be, if we didn’t look beyond ourselves?

If you’re the selfish person, it’s not too late to stop. If you know other selfish people, don’t beat them up about it, but step in and try to gradually help them see it and change it. We have to both want to and learn to be better people! Let’s all work at it together!

“A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle.”
