Can women really have it all? More importantly, do we really want it all? Well that is a question that I’ve been asking myself lately. As a full time working mom I often struggle with finding the perfect balance between being a good mom and focusing on my career aspirations.

Being a mom is by far one of my greatest accomplishments; however, I am also proud of my career. When I was younger I wasn’t that interested in school but as I got older, I realized the importance of an education. I managed put myself through college and ultimately became a Parole and Probation agent. I feel that this is just the beginning of my career and I’m excited to see what the future holds. At the same time, I want to be the best mom that I can be which to me means being present. When it comes to advancing my career it will require sacrifice and time away from my son.

I had a conversation with one of my friends who is literally the hardest working woman that I know! She works several jobs, is in real estate school and is pursuing her master’s degree, all while being a mom! Her ultimate goal is to give her two girls the best life possible. She said, “Every good mom feels torn when it comes to being a mom and pursing their career”. There’s no right or wrong decision when it comes to being a stay at home or a working mom. Is there a right or wrong decision when it comes to staying in one position and not pursing your career because you’re a mom?

I would love to hear other mom’s opinions when it comes to work-life and home-life balance!

  1. I am a working mom myself. But just this year, I had this vision of me being a work at home mom- of landing a homebased job. The job I have right now pays for majority of our bills qnd expenses. Despite the stress, I am blessed to have a career in the corporate world. Maybe my motherly hormones are kicking in that I love to spend more time with my family that’s why I’d like to work at home. Hopefully this happens early next year.
